What this covers
DPIIT recognition marks your company or LLP as a startup for government purposes. It brings a three-year income tax holiday under Section 80-IAC on application, angel tax relief under Section 56, self-certification under nine labour and environmental laws, and relaxed criteria in public tenders.
Eligibility is specific: incorporated within the last ten years, turnover below ₹100 crore in every year since incorporation, and working on innovation or a scalable business model — not a business reconstructed from an existing one.
The recognition application itself is straightforward. The 80-IAC exemption that follows is a separate application to an inter-ministerial board and needs a real case made for it.

7–20 working days — with the filing, the follow-up and the acknowledgement handled for you.
How we handle it
A write-up that actually explains the innovation
Recognition applications are rejected on weak descriptions more than on ineligibility. The narrative matters.
80-IAC application handled separately
The tax holiday is not automatic with recognition. We prepare the financials and pitch for the board application.
Angel tax relief
Section 56(2)(viib) exemption declaration filed so share premium above fair value is not taxed as income.
Tender and compliance benefits explained
Exemption from prior turnover and experience criteria in government tenders, and self-certification under labour laws.
